if You are using only this combo, and:
- using grip: get ThinkTank Digital Holster 5
- w/o grip: get ThinkTank Digital Holster 4
order it using a link on the main NR page and You'll even get a bonus item.

I have the lower top loader and I'm waiting till TT holster 5 will arrive to my country, as this one is too bulky (too much material v/s stuff You can put inside). Also get at least 1.7 teleconverter (IMHO 2.0 will suite You better and it performs better than 1.7 although You lost a little bit more light).

If that is all you are taking I would just buy a good hiking backpack and then get a couple of padded lens cases that can hook on your belt and a wrap or small holster for the camera when you are not carrying it. Maybe even ThinkTank's speed freak or a belt/fanny pack. Thinktank and Lowepro both have the best IMO.

If you are only carrying the one lens, I suggest using something like the Lowepro Toploader Zoom. Use a normal backpack to carry other stuff and clip the Lowepro to a shoulder strap or across your chest. You can then get the camera out without breaking stride. For more arduous hiking, put the Lowepro inside the backpack.

Hi folks,

I am using a D7000 with a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2,8G ED VR II and i am going on an Africa Safari and now i need a special "transportation system" for this camera.

Needs:
1) The lens has to be connected to the camera in the bag all the time (maybay one more lens, but generally i will only use this lens)
2) I have to get the Camera quickly out of the bag (system?)
3) The bag has to be quite light, because most of the trip is by foot
4) If it is a backpack is has to have kind of thermal air system in the back (serveral "normal" backpack manufactors have such products but i didn´t find any special photo backpack with this feature), because in central africa it is very hot...

Thanks a lot for helping btw giving me a hint.
