I've been almost dive bombed when shooting. I was getting shots of Snow Geese, while standing next to my car. The snow geese tend to unload right after take off, and my car got nailed numerous times, a few of which missed me by a foot or less.

I've never been dive bombed, but I did have one of my nephews puke up on the end of my lens when I was taking a portrait of him as a kid. I've been a member of the protective filter club ever since!

Well, I guess I should have said I took the week off for the holidays, not really on vacation. This was a shot of West Palm Beach downtown.

Yeah I am glad for weather sealed cameras as well but at this moment I really wish I had a D3 instead of my D700. I am still using a q-tip to remove the "residue" that got in my pop up flash.

@adamz- I figured with the story I did not want to clog up the PAD but if I have some other story at another time if you would like me to put it there I will. That shot is the actual picture that got me "bombed." I thought others might add a story they had as well.

I think I will print this out and put it on my desk. It will remind me it could always be worse, lol.

That's a terrific shot AND story. Where are you vacationing?

Reminds me of a poem I once heard : "One day as I was walking under a tree, a bird sent it's blessings to me, as I wiped it from my eye, I thanked the Lord that Cows don't fly"! Nice picture scooby, thank goodness for 'weather' sealed cameras.

I was gonna say the same thing as DutchNikon. Probably a heron. I think one of them could likely fill a 1L bottle with their "discharge".

Sounds like standard behaviour of a Herron.. , they are known to do this kind of stuff when disturbed during their sleep-time ( its a fright reaction, when unexpectedly having to wake-up..) , and also by the large stinky amount of "residu"( they eat fish mainly...) .

Well I am on vacation and said hey why not take some night time shots. I have not done that in a while. I went down town took a few, then went walking up the intercoastal waterway. I was like man this might turn out really good. I kept having strange things in my pictures and was like I need a better place to stand to get some of the "destractions" out of the forground. I as I am walking I see a spot that can get rid of most of my problems but not everything.

Well as stated before it was night time and I walked to this location under a tree. It took a few moments for me to set up my tripod and I hear something around me. When I turn around to look nothing was there, at this point I should have know something was wrong. I get set up and make I think what should have been a 10 second shot I hear this noise again and then feel this wet/stinky fluid and particles hit me. Then I see it hit my camera, I pick it up mid shot and run. Well at this point after I run out from under the "elephant birds" I am thinking to myself at least I didn't look up when it happened.

I had to clean my camera, tripod, and took off my shirt for the 20 min ride home. I do not know what type bird it was but it had to have been a condor because the amount that fell was unreal. I am sure others have better stories than me but figure its a start.

I figure I would at least share the image that got me, not my best but figure in a year or so I will laugh about it.
