Oops. Yes, I meant the P6000.

The Olympus E-P1 is certainly something to consider, but I'm really looking for something for shooting top-quality raw files while mountain-biking, and don't want to carry (and risk damaging), a heavy, large and expensive interchangable-lens system. Full manual exposure and focus is essential.

The P6000 is close -- so I'm hoping that the links coming down from the Nikon website mean something like a P7000 is about to arrive. (Hopefully with an un-crippled raw format...)

Thanks.

I also would like to have a faster AF, as the current one is great... for still subjects :) and a normal RAW as Niko wrote.

Hello ckryanco, welcome to the forum. Do you mean the P6000? I think there was a rumor of a P7000 replacement coming a while back on the main page of Nikonrumors. I personally wouldn't want another P6000 "like" camera. I'm hoping for something more like the Panasonic GF1 and Olympus EP-1 from Nikon. But if they put the new Sony Exmor R sensor in it and it miraculously improves image quality over the current P6000, then I'd reconsider.

Oh and I don't like the P6000's new RAW format. Don't understand why they had to cripple it like that.

Just noticed that the links on the main Nikon website for the CoolPix D6000 were taken down in the last day or two. Does anyone know if that means a D7000 is about to be launched?

On a related note, does anyone know if Adobe LightRoom software supports the WIC raw format used by the CoolPix D6000?

I'd love to have a compact camera with full manual controls and raw-output for serious shooting on hiking/mountain-biking trips, and the D6000 (or D7000) could be GREAT for that...

Thanks.
