Well, it be might be announced by the end of the year, but it might be awhile (months perhaps) before it starts to ship. And it might be even longer before it can easily be ordered online.

Personally, I would suggest looking at either the D7000 or getting a used D300/D300s. And yes, if you wanted to change systems, you could get yourself a 7D or a a77, if you can find one in stock.

It's due for an update with the D400 but with the flooding in Thailand everything (including any new D300s) have been delayed. It sounds like it could be the end of the year.

If you're looking at the D300s and can't find one, but are wondering about the Sony A77, you should really think about the D7000. Canon doesn't really offer much in the APS-C crop sensor range that's worth buying and their APS-C lens support is pathetic.

The D7000 out performs the D300s in Image Quality.

I´m trying to buy a new NIKON D300S (USD 1.699) and I cannot find it in any retail in USA ? not in BH Photo, Best Buy, etc and etc.
I called NIKON directly and nobody could give me a straight answer saying where and when it will be available
I suppose they are getting out ok market with this model.
Anybody has an idea of what is going on ?
Any clue if a buy a Sony A77 or a Canon ?
