Now that *WE* see it, Nikon can say something like "Our customers saw it and had a good laugh about it." All the while in the background, someone at Nikon (or the ad agency) should be suffering the worst that Hell can offer... :-)

I think you are thinking way to hard into this. 99% of people do not know canon glass is white. The add is reconfirming existing customers, former customers, that they should be proud to buy nikon and have owned one. It entices new customers in much the same way. There are no camera commercials made for those of us who are photog nuts. They already have us, they are going after the previous owners and new people getting into photography.

What's your script out of curiosity?

When i'm asked, I usually tell them I want my AF point to actually AF on what I want :-P

I'm Adding a topic for this one - I'm interested as well.

Yes, I know the ratio well ;-)

I recite a script I have sorted out in my mind whenever I am somewhere and get asked why we shoot using Nikon at work.

By the way, not seeing that frame can lead to the kind of embarrassment that can cause a senior exec somewhere to lose his job/account/etc. "Why is our major competition featured in our advert?" and doubly so if the competition themselves point it out and in public at an event sponsored by that same company in competition with you.

Face it, there are usually 4-1 Canon to Nikon shooters at any given time.

They probably used it because it was the ONLY image a Canon shooter didn't have one of those annoying huge "CANON" stickers on their hoods. Face it, there are usually 4-1 Canon to Nikon shooters at any given time. 1 frame doesn't mean snot. Adds are made by advertising agencies, not companies to convey a concept and I think it does it very well. I thought it is a great advertisement and concept & I didn't notice the frame until pointed out.

I can't imagine that canon screen was the best they could find for the video.

In my short time in photography world, I remember watching a similar scene during prince william wedding where there were more nikon pro lenses than canon.
Big fail adv here.

Humm I looked and do not see the Canon shooters in the background? Which topic should I look under?

In the "Who is Nikon/Who am I?" video, as pointed out by RADU in his comment and as per A.Lwin's comment, at 36 seconds (I also see it at 35 seconds), there is a quick flash of a still shot.

All those Canon pro lenses with (just one or two) black Nikon lenses in view.

Still can't see it? Here is a screenshot of my browser window with it:

Great weekly summary on the main blog this week, not quite a classic for the ages, but it is getting close to being one and no new pro level dSLR's either! Why? In my view it is mostly (but not entirely) due to the crackpot marketing people involved in originating some of the stories there.

As I know so many posters here don't bother reading it, I have to say this weeks is very well worth while looking at. It's the small letters "Back to [NR] Blog" at the top of each page here; just click it.

These are the highlights that got my attention:

Did someone not think about the name "Jerkstopper" before they launched it? Oh the jokes we can have with that... and I see some on the blog already have too. Why would ANYONE want to have a camera topple over and crash into the floor when a cable gets pulled is beyond me. The other end, perhaps a PC or flash trigger/unit is another matter, but not on the camera as they show in the publicity shot.

I like the idea of those girls in the Yellow Store. Much more pleasant than the grumpy old so-and-so's that work in all my local camera stores. I also like the idea of being able to get hands on with all that Nikon gear in one place but I bet they won't let you do any test shots (even in the store on gear tethered to the counter) on your own memory card...

The Japanese government open-door visa plan seems like a good defensive move on the part of Japanese companies. Can you imagine a US or a UK government doing anything like that to help a domestic company? Oh the lawsuits...

Nice to see Nikon's financial results were above expectations - they'll need that to get over the impact of the Thailand flooding, I am sure. My wife lived in Thailand for a few years when she was in her teens and remembers some of the places and has stories of walking to the end of her street and getting into water taxis, so the rivers were a big part of life there. All very sad.

Did nobody at Nikon realize that there were all those Canon shooters in the advert? WTF were they thinking when they approved that? What were they smoking (crackpot... geddit?), or is it a spoof?

Oh yes, you have to look at the main blog... Good job on it admin.
