guys

exposure would not change in M mode, the camera " thinks " you know what you are doing and everthing, shutter and aperture stays at set. that is how M works, more so if you have auto ISO turned off.

in A aperture you set the aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed, therefore you have control over DOF and sharpness.

in S shutter, you set the shutter and the camera sets the aperture therby giving you control over motion.

the camera will set the correct exposure in 'A' & "S", however it will do nothing in M.

I'm thinking he means exposure compensation. There is no exposure compensation in Manual mode.

Since auto-ISO applies to all modes, that setting doesn't appear to explain why the OP was able to change the exposure correctly in A and S but not in M.

Thx NSXType and R&R , sometimes i have difficulties expressing myself in english as it is not my mothertongue , ..

Still do not know the op's cam model, but on my D300's it works like R&R describes.

AUto ISO, when swithed on ( default for Nikon DSLR's) will compensate for under or over exposure by changing the ISO sensitivity, on most Nikon DSLR's in all modes be it manual, aperture preference, or shutter speed preference...

Auto ISO definitely works in manual mode. I use it with an 1/50th shutter for video.

Shooting Menu > ISO sensitivity settings > Auto ISO sensitivity control > ON/OFF

I think he meant that Auto ISO would possibly change exposure settings in manual.

I don't remember if Auto ISO works in Manual. I think exposure compensation doesn't work either.

Do not know which camera, but you may also want to switch off "Auto-Iso" otherwise the camera tries to compensate for a different (under- or over-)exposure by adjusting the sensitivity ( iso)

In manual mode, you change the exposure manually, by using the two dials, one for the aperture and the other for the speed.

Whenever i change the exposure in M mode, the resulting pictures' exposure doesn't change.

but if i change it in A,S modes, the exposures changes correctly.

Am i doing something wrong here ?

Any help would be appreciated.
