I'm frustrated that the D400/D800 has yet to come to fruition but to say I want a smaller Sony NEX-7? Not a chance. There is no way I could carry that with a 70-200 2.8 around all day. It has impressive marketing stats though.

If you are that frustrated, and it has manifest itself that you realize a Sony NEX-7 is all you really need, then you probably were giving in to marketing hype before that said you need to desire a FF D800 instead of focusing what you really "need" for your photographs. Finding out what you need is not a bad thing or something to be mad about.

Allot of people think they need FF that really don't. They probably do need to take some more classes though.

I don't need FX - I do need 2 more clean iso stops from what my D300 can do with the same feature set- Clean, sharp 3200. In what sensor factor that comes in, I could care less.

Just because you can't have megapixel bragging rights and video doesn't mean you need a D800. I am more than happy with nikons products and unlike canon they tend to be reliable and seamless. Furthermore many people use slrs for manual control... You seem to never have tried that one...

Disgusted seems a bit more than I could go. A mirror-less isn't for me.

I am looking into the D800, but I have in mind a video upgrade, which it might not be the best option anyway. I think that a cheaper and even better option for that is the new NEX-VG20 out this November from Sony for video. Frankly, it will be better with a Nikon adapter.

How much the earthquake impacted Nikon is beyond me, but my guess is, quite a lot. How much acquiring an FX camera is affecting me is not very much.

You know what disgusts me? Corporate crime. The war in the middle east that seems to go on forever. Child abuse. Racism.

Nikon taking a long time to release a new camera because one of the most horrible disasters in modern history happened in Japan less than a year ago...nope. That's not disgusting. Not to me anyway.

Its been posted before, but I think I turned a new corner in the wait.

Just a thought, how many other people on this site have just about had it with waiting for the FX and wading through really boring almost embarrassing equipment releases and posts?

The NEX-7 is the future. Other than wildlife and sports shooters, who really needs a SLR? The camera is small and is what serious shooters want. If the specs are correct, this mirrorless Nikon to be released is still born for sure, just like their recent crop of Canon look alike CoolPixes.

A year ago I would have jumped on the D800, now not so sure. I think I am done.

Nikon, you have succeeded in disheartening a very loyal user, congrats.
