The camera hasn't even been released yet...how would you get on a waiting list???

A camera must be announced first before it is released. As of today there is nothing indicating a "D800" will ever exist. So it's much, much too early to say how one can get a "D800". There was no "D600" before the D700 so there may very well never be a "D800".

My pre-order advice from previous pre-order drama:

And who can forget the 22! pages of D7000 pre-order madness:

crazy people

you have been waiting since last year for a camera that no one knows when it will be here.

short memories, thinking only about yourself.

spare a moment for the poor people who had their country was destroyed by an earthquake

the Nikon factory was destroyed in that part of the country, and their R&D was put back.

someone noted yesterday, that people want new cameras but do not even explore and use 50% of their present cameras, just use them as big point and shoots mostly.

how can you get on a waiting list for something that does not exist as yet, that we have no specifications for to date.

many members said August would be the date for the release, highly touted, I said, the end of the year will be here and it will not be in your hands.

take some advise, get a camera and strat shooting.

there are many discussions along this topic, I vote this thread should be closed

No there is no list and you just have to wait until it is actually announced and then put in a preorder for it. Even a preorder doesn't mean much as I have heard of people getting orders canceled and such because of high demand. Some people even put in several orders at different places to see which one would come first, but then you could wind up with double the charge on your credit card.

You can send $499 my way for a holding spot with Amazon... Trust me on this one.

But really though, I've only been following NR and the DSLR community for a little over a year now, and nothing like that (a pre pre-order) has ever shown up, with any company's upcoming camera product. Sorry.

Hi folks,

I have ‘lurked’ on the Nikon Rumours forum quite a bit in recent months. I’m sure that similar newbie question has been asked a hundred times before, but I cannot find any examples via the site search - sorry about that!

In short, do any of the big retailers (eg Adormama, B&H), or distributors provide any means of 'getting in early' to possibly end up with (in this case) a D800 earlier than later? Sorry to gouge for that level of advice so early in my NF membership, but if you can steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I know the D700 is legendary – but I do want to work with D800.

Thanks so much,
John Weigel
