For sure if you even take out the screws of a Nikon product kiss the warrenty goodbye and the shop won't except it back either. Geez whatever you do DON'T TOUCH IT! An electrical piece like this cannot be fixed by untrained individuals. It sounds like its the entire circuit board so get it back on over to the shop and demand your money back or have it exchanged for another body. This would be unacceptable in my book for all that money you spent. Be firm!

I have a d300 that had an issue like yours where it wouldn't turn on. It turned out that the battery contacts weren't making contact. Open the battery door and press on the battery, you may have to pretty hard, but that may help. I eventually taped a small piece of folded paper to the battery door to provide the pressure I needed to make the contacts touch.

Agreed - that was not smart and will (or did) void the warranty.

The power should be on or off. Even with a low battery the camera either works or it doesn't. Can you take a photo? Does the shutter and mirror sound like you did? Does the AF work? It is hard to tell from your english.

I would contact Nikon to send it in. I'm not sure what "solicitor ship of Nikon" means - probably a bad translation. But your only option is to return it or send it in to be fixed.

Bad idea! If the camera is still under warranty I would definitely send it to Nikon or go to the shop where you bought the camera and get it fixed by someone who knows how to repair cameras. Both a camera and a computer work with microprocessors, but a computer does not have weather sealing etc.

Just my thoughts...

Hello
Thanks all for your responses, sorry to answer you late, I did everything that you said me but the main problem is this, the camera isn't receiving power at all because when I check the viewfinder with the battery both in and out of the camera, nothing happen the viewfinder will remain very dim.
So I don’t know what should I do because in my location there is no solicitor ship of Nikon to use warranty and I cannot send it to another place.
Now my friend (he is electronic engineer and repair computer board)decide to open the camera and check electrical board because the problem is an electrical problem.
What is your mind, do you have another solution?

Best Regards
Davood

Hi Dawood,

I wonder wether our responses did help you in any way ?

I agree with you Dutch

Just for folks who come along later and do a search, it would be nice for the original poster to let the forum know the outcome, so someone in the future could benefit.

Once you solve your turning-on problem, you may want to do like me and avoiding taking the memory card out as much as possible. I use the USB to empty the card unless I am in the field and I have no choice.

Davood welcome to the forum sorry to hear its not under very pleasant circumstances. This is strange do you not get any messages on the top LCD at all? Usually if there are any problems you will get an E, , meaning camera malfunction or -E- where the camera cannot detect the memory card. CHA happens when there is an error accessing the memory card or is unable to create a new folder. "For" blinks if memory card has not been formatted to use on the D700. If the lens is not locked in it should still turn on and you should get the top LCD and even back LCD to turn on. You would get the E, , message and the shutter will not be able to be released if there is a lens mount problem.

I would take it back to the shop first of all. Then with the sales associate in the store with you try another different but "real" Nikon battery in another charger. If you still can't get it to turn on then its an electrical problem and they should exchange it for another body. Did you buy the body only or did you get a kit setup? They might try to pull a fast one on you and not exchange it. Instead they might send it away for repairs which might be free but you will be out a camera! My pro shop where I live would just simply exchange it straight away.

Good luck I hope you get this solved before the weekend is finished. I feel bad for you seriously...

Y ou can also try to charge your battery with another charger, some nikon chargers seem to be faulty, they sometimes show vully charged batteriesm wich are not fully charged.

This seems to happen more when the charger is plugged in the mains before inserting the battery, insteas of the other way around, so first insert the battery in the charger, and then plug in the mains.

btw first times the batery uncharges quickly, it gets to full capacaty after several full charges ( which take som hours in the charger).

Final solution, its a new camera, so use yor right for waranty and call back ath the shop or nikon directly, the instructions for that are on nikons website...

Get a brand new battery if the recharged one does not work. See if the store you bought it at has charged batteries to try. The original battery may be faulty.

Charge the battery fully and try it - it's not unknown for new batteries to only have a small charge.

If that fails, take it back to where you bought it and insist they exchange the camera.
