Iggy why would Nikon "repair" the focus of your D3S so you can use Leica lenses? Leica lenses are "optimized" for use on Leica cameras. There is nothing wrong with your D3. What kind of adapter are you using?

I cannot get the manual focus lenses that I used with my Nikon F3 to auto focus on my D7000, think something is wrong with the D7000?

There is a good thread on checking focus somewhere on here. Search for a product by LensAlign. You can microfocus adjustment for AF lenses I don't know why it wouldn't work with MF. If you e-mail Nikon they are very good at getting back to you to see if you can - especially if you have that body.

I would leave off that you are using non-Nikon lens - I have see the Leica convert-ers/ions but I don't think there would be much support for using them.

On digital cameras? My FTN and F2SB still focus the same way they did 30+ years ago.

If you're going to focus a MF, you should see if there is a focusing screen with optical focusing aids available for it. I thought Nikon made one for the D3S, but apparently not. KatzEye only lists one for the D700. If you think you'd like to have the option to focus optically, give KatzEye a call and see if there's something they may be able to do.

If it's only off by a little bit for fast apertures, I would probably rely more on live view to check focus. You can of course have them adjusted, but there's only so much you can do, and there's no guarantee that it will last a long time, or that it will make the performance with another lens worse.

DutchNikon is correct. The focus indicator isn't really matching up to my pics being in focus. It only seems to happen with the manual focus lenses though which is odd, but them being old Leica lenses I chalked it up to that.

Interesting, I'll give the Nikon repair people a call about it then.

I Guess you are trying to say that your D3s indicates : In Focus "but you are realy Back- or Frontfocussing ?

If that's the case, your D3s is probably the culprit, and you need to adjust the general focussing of your D3s...

Are you referring to your distance scale not matching your focus distance?

How can focus be slightly off on a manual focus lens!

Does anyone know if there's any way to adjust the focus of non-CPU lenses? I have some old manual lenses that are slightly off. I was wondering since you can input aperture/focal length info for these if there's a way to do the same for focus fine tuning?
