The re-login issue is fixed. Once you are logged in, there is a "start new thread" button on the right.

Signed up, and logged in but cannot post comments (replay or new). I also have to re-login every time I hit the forum button, rather than the forms navigation buttons.

The new forum is now live at http://forum.nikonrumors.com/. There are still several issues that must be addressed, but I believe the basic functionality is now working. If you are brave enough, go ahead and register. We ran into several issues when importing the data and I could not transfer all logins and passwords, unfortunately you will have to register again.

I think this is what we will do - we ran into several problems. The drawback is that you will have to register again.

You could do a hybrid approach. Switch over to the new platform, keep the old site frozen and then take your time to figure out how to import the content. Also the search function can span both platforms so you won't have to look in both places. You can PM me if you want as I do this sort of thing for a living :-}

In the worse case scenario, we will just leave the old forum as read only for reference and will start from scratch with the new platform. It all depends on how good is the migration tool that was provided by new forum platform.

Hi all,

My hosting company is currently installing a new forum platform. In the past few months we have been experiencing a large amount of spam on the NRF and we did not have the proper tools to fight it. After doing some research, I decided to go with Vanilla Forums, which is a very clean and intuitive solution (check it out at http://vanillaforums.org. The most difficult part in this transition will be the migration of current database (topics, usernames and passwords). I will update you as I get more information on the progress from my hosting company.
