>>I need to light up the whole room, <<

No SB600... => Monoblock and a softbox / scrim .... even the cheapest monoblock like a Linkstar MT-160FU ( 160Ws head) will give you much more indoor satisfaction then 100 different accesories for your SB600 ( WHich btw is a good flash in its own rights....)

I met Gery Fong and I thought he was a bit odd...but I digress lol.

For a wide angle shot that encompasses large room (how big did you say it was?) a single speedlight might not cut it, especially if it has a high ceiling. You'd be firing it at full power and that'll really hurt your recycle times.

Grab another one and fire them wirelessly, should light up a room nicely :)

I think Drab makes a really good point here.. I did not really think about this but my problem is obviously the distance between the surfaces that will be lit.. and I won't be able to fix that issue unless I use more than one flash..

Luckily for what I do, I like to crank up the iso to get some ambient light in the shot.. that helps a lot.. so I guess the flash diffuser that I use is not that important after all.. I might go with something cheaper and smaller then..

Thanks

Lumiquest ProMax System works well for me. They have a "Big Bounce" that may get you with width.

To get good light with an ultra wide lens, I find I need at least two flashes to fill the scene.

The Fong-crowd will probably shoot me (and so would my intuition as the LS is sooo much larger), but I notice very little difference between a 45 degree bounce with the tiny sto-fen OmniBounce and a 45 degree bounce with the Fong Lightsphere. Because of that I always pack the OB and keep the LS at home.

But a more direct answer to your question is with the 600's flip-down diffuser down and an OB (or larger) on top your only concern with the 11-16 will be lighting ratios, not angular coverage. You will not see shadows. The problem I expect you will have is that the distance ratio between close and far is so great that any on-board flash will be unable to light evenly your field of view.

Asking a lot of the sb600? what do you mean? that lighting a room is too much for it? I do mix it higher ISO images in darker rooms because I like to get the natural lighting, I use the flash to just light things up a little.. I hope I don't need a stronger flash :(

About the tripod idea.. the problem is I need as much mobility as possible.. I have a monopod that I could try for this but I'm afraid that even this is going to be too annoying to carry.

Hmm I'll considering the flashright now..

edit: hmm for its price, I wonder if the flashright is really worth it against a 50$ gary fong lightsphere collapsible..

I suggest the flashright.

I have one and it is great.

I do use it on my D7000 with my Tokina 11-16 for interior design photography.

Hey there!

I'm looking for a diffuser for my SB-600. So far I've only considered the Gary Fong Lightsphere but I'm not sure if it's the best for my need...

I want to use the flash mounted on my D7000 with my Tokina 11-16 or Sigma 20... might also use it with my lensbaby fisheye, but that I couldn't care less about the results.

I really hate the look of flash on my photography in general but sometimes you just need additional light.. since I shoot wide and I include my subject(s) in their environnement, I need to light up the whole room, I want to bounce the light everywhere, the background should be lit just as well as my subjects.. What should I buy?
