Hi,

Is the 'latest' skinny on the D800 'Fall'?

I vacillate on whether to go to FX every single day.

I'm so happy with the D7000, but 'think' that the IQ and DR on an FX would be significantly better.

I do have some personal problems with the management of the size and weight of a larger camera.

Ah.

My best,

Mike

You could wait, but I doubt the price will drop. If anything it might go up more. However since you have some time you could give it a month or so. I wouldn't wait too long though because of supplies and the possibility of not getting one if you wait too long.

Get the D7000. It really is the best APS-C DSLR money can by. I own two of them. The IQ and High ISO performance makes the Canon 5D MkII(a full-frame pro DSLR, Canon's flagship body) look silly. Especially considering the cost of the D7000.

You may want to consider the 5100 as the sensor is the same and the IQ appears to be broadly comparable ... it's cheaper too.

Only problem is the Canon style body and poor layout (compared to the 7000) of controls.

Darn it! The 7000 is the reason I use Nikon and the 5100 is the reason I don't use Canon.

Ok... Ignore this... buy the 7000, you won't regret it.

With the supply low & demand high, I can't imagine anyone offering discounts any time soon. I'd buy it now, take some great shots over the summer and enjoy it.

Waiting for a price drop for the D7000 is probably not wise .. I think your choices are either get a D90 or miss out for the summer.. or just jump now and get a D7000.. even at 1700 its exceptional value.. its been said "its the best APS-C camera money can buy" mine seems to be!

I'm looking for a D7000, since this is about 1 months salary for me I need to buy it cheap, but I would also like to buy it before July since summer is when I primarily use my camera. Right now the price with two lenses is 1700$usd which jumped up from 1600$ usd a few weeks ago. I know that the earthquake in Japan messed up some supply chains (you can also see the mean, avg, and max price ascend in the month of april and may on nextag) I assume this is affecting the price. The yen also has something to do with it... which is forecasted to go down this summer. So should I hold out for a few months or just buy one anyway? When does nikon usually have price drops?
