All I can say is that it is hard to mess up with the AF-S 60mm micro, at least that's what I've found after a few weeks of using it. Just play around with it, shoot things till you get the results you want.

Sorry rbid, I did not learn Macro photography from books but from colleagues at various universities I worked at.
Like all photography, a lot of it is about getting the lighting right, try looking up "close up flash photography" and "flower photography" on You Tube

Insect photography is very specialized and like and like bird, animal, or indeed any branch of photography, the "trick" is a detailed knowledge of you subject, rather than a knowledge of photography

sevencrossing said:
I would look at text books on Marco photography rather than one on this specific lens
Macro work is a very big subject and there are specialist in the various fields of anotomy , zoology pathology etc

Thanks sevencrossing.

Yes, I'm looking for text books/tutorials on Marco photography rather than one on this specific lens. (My poor English betrayed me again).

Do you have experience with books on this topics? (Macro used in Flowers, insects, etc)

for technical details of most (all) Nikon pre DSLR cameras and lenses
try

The Nikon Handbook: A Complete Guide to Cameras, Lenses and Accessories
Peter Braczko

It rates this lens as " super sharp "and "image quality previously unknown in micro nikkors "

As other have said, I would look at text books on Marco photography rather than one on this specific lens

There are not a lot of macro lenses at that focal length. There is the old Micro-Nikkor 60mm D that you mention and the new Nikon 60mm G macro. There is also the legendary Coastal Optics 60mm f/4 macro lens that costs almost $5k. The Zeiss 50mm f/2 Makro-Planer is even shorter.

look for any book with macro, doesn't matter what brand, focal length it is. the main difference between 60mm, 105mm or 200mm macro lens is the working distance, the whole rest is pretty much the same

I do not expect answers like Google it or search in Amazon . . .

Try searching in Amazon.

Just kidding. I'm happy to find another fan of the oft-underrated AF 60mm Micro 2.8D. With so many other "fancy" Micro-Nikkors available now, many seem to overlook this useful lens. Tack-sharp, flat-field, and relatively fast. It's the only macro lens I own. A great lens! (Sorry, I don't have any specific book recommendations.)

Oops! Nevermind! You have the newer AF-S version--even better! Too bad my AF-D version is so good, I have little reason to upgrade, even though I would love the AF-S version of this lens.

I do not know of any books specifically written for one lens but there are many guides out there.

It would be easier if you shared with us what type of macro work you are interested in. My experience has been to focus on basic skills and understanding depth of field. Most skills are the same but more precise and smaller.
