Thanks for the feedback guys, it's for a client so a little jumpy over this.
Interior office setting during the day, with no lighting set up but large windows.
I plan to set the head and shoulder shot up and just use the one static position for all.
(oh for a back up disc!)

Hi,

If you are doing single takes, likely.

Of course, it goes South quickly when you add up takes. ;-)

The CODEC in the D7K is thrifty and pretty good; it could be a little less thrifty and be great, but then others would carp that it would eat up too much space, something's to complaint one way or the other.

Good luck on your shoot.

My best,

Mike

Question: Is the 8gb SanDisk I have, good enough and big enough for the job?

Odd that Nikon didn't include a video capacity chart in the manual like they did for stills. No problem tho...

Just select your desired video and audio settings in the menu, turn on Live View and start recording... the estimated time left on your card at those settings will be displayed on the LCD. I get 20 minutes (for 1920HD best quality with audio) on a 4 gig card so I assume you would get twice that. Actual size varies by content tho, just as with jpgs... scenes with little action or camera movement, or with uniform brightness or low detail will produce smaller files. But I'm guessing that for eight 3-minute vids, you're probably good to go.

Got around 8 x 3 minute video clips to record this Friday. I've had the camera since Christmas and this is the first time for video.
Question: Is the 8gb SanDisk I have, good enough and big enough for the job?
Plan on taking a lapel mike, tripod and my 50mm 1.4.
or could I record straight into a Mac Book Pro laptop?

Your time and thoughts will be much appreciated
