On this one, I was trying to capture the sun taking a bite at the building.

Its more like a Pablo Picasso face. It looks like two eyes to the left and then a smile a bit below and to the right of the eyes. thanks for the tips as well!

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 was the only lens I had with me that day. Was a bit nervous and forgot to increase the aperture to get rid of background.

Another way of photographing smoke is to do it in a dark room with the incense against a black background, set the camera to bulb/long exposure and fire the flash remotely (e.g. using the trigger button on the flash).

I've found that this way you're able to achieve complex photos with low ISO :) These are some that I've taken:

I think I can see the face in your photo. Does it look like a plague doctor...one with a long nose? lol. I like how yours has this focused light in the middle...nice :)

The one before was the 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII, TC-20E3 @ 400mm F16.0, 1/125" ISO 200

Shot my first portraits this weekend. This is my daughter with 6 weeks to go before giving me another grandchild. I've got a lot to learn about shooting portraits but I enjoyed doing it, which I wasn't sure if I would.

I love the porch screen diffraction effect Aleks (I'm assuming that's what you're shooting through). When you start to get into even finer materials, stuff starts to get weird. I was shooting some equipment for work, got bored, and took a picture through a piece of wire sieve cloth @ 200 openings/inch. PP on this was pretty heavy because of light loss through the cloth.
