I saw this "greenish" problem when previewing the NEF files on the computer screen... in the early days when I just got my D7000 and the tools (at that date) did not read correctly the encrypted WB settings of the photo. (Picasa, IrFanView, Gimp).. but later on, after updating these tools, the NEF files didn't show greenish.. but correct.

I also shot in RAW all the time.

and what is setting is your white balance?

Is your monitor calibrated to ensure that it is the image that has a "Tone" to it?

It sounds like your white balance may be off as well. If you find it is the camera that would be a Nikon service center fix.

hi perminna, I've been experiencing the same problem on my D7000 that I purchased 2 months ago. Haven't done the firmware update but I will probably do that soon.

I take pictures on my D7000 and when I import them into lightroom 3, I can see that they have a greenish tint on all of them. It's really annoying. I always have to boost up the tint on the white balance option in LR3. Have you found a fix for it yet? I don't know what to do. But it's really slowing down my work flow.

One thing that you still have not described is how images shot in Jpeg look on the computer. If they are green, it has to be a image settings issue. If not its could be a number of different things.

The color space is irrelevant for you because you use raw and lightroom, so just switch to sRGB if that fixes the problem. Images are edited in LR using the monitor profile and only on export does it matter which space you choose.

Color space on the camera does affect the thumbnail jpeg (and joeys if not shooting raw), but I wouldn't use AdobeRGB even if I was a jpeg shooter because it's too wide a gamut for 8 bits, IMO. In raw it's immaterial which you choose.

My guess, without more info, would be Picture Control. This will effect your Jpegs, which, as stated, are what you see on the camera (even when you shoot RAW). I am not sure if you always see green, but if it is mainly an indoor problem, is it under florescent lights? If your picture control is set to vivid, you may be increasing the green of the florescent lights.

I know what you mean about the lightroom first loading with a different image, this is only noticeable on slower computers (such as the one I am typing this on, Duo Core, 2Gb Ram). If you shoot Jpeg, does it fix after loading, or does it remain green after loading? If it remains green, then it is your camera settings. I don't have a D7000, but with my cameras this is very adjustable. There is even the cyan-magenta adjustment table settings.

As suggested, go to a store and compare to other samples.

Just a quick update: it seems that (although I stated otherwise in the opening post) photos taken in sRGB color space look better (less green, more natural, similar to Lightroom view) on camera's screen than those taken in Adobe RGB mode. That's a shame because I'd like to shoot in Adobe RGB. Maybe I just need to get used to flat and greeny preview in camera. The sRGB photos look equal in both jpg and RAW format.

And as a side note: I have not touched the picture/color controls, the color mode is set "natural". White balance is on auto.

I will reset the camera soon but I doubt it'll help.

Could anyone (a D7000 owner) try how sRGB and Adobe RGB photos compare on their camera?

This anicdote points to something other than a defective screen. I vote for a picture control being out of whack. Don't picture controls affect the generation of a RAW file's embedded jpeg thumbnail?

Maybe you have changed picture controls so that it skews the jpg files green?

Did you take a look at the jpg output straight from the camera?

Picture controls don't affect RAW files.

- I don't have protective film on the rear screen but the plastic cover is on.
- I have tried different white balance settings, it's the same.
- If I remember correctly, I have tried shooting jpg too, and the photos look equally green on the camera's screen. I don't have the camera within reach at the moment so cannot check.

And no way I'm downgrading to D90, the high ISO performance of the D7000 is amazing. I couldn't live without AI metering either. :)

I may be wrong here but in your post you said the image first looks green in Lightroom until it loads up then it is OK. That sounds like it could be something to do with jpeg format as that is what you are first looking at on the rear screen and what first loads on your computer screen? I'm assuming you are shooting in raw here. If that is true, then when you change to shooting jpegs it should stay green.

I'd go with the reset and try changing colour space to see if that affects it.

...Or you could upgrade to a D90...... ;^)

Did you remove the protective film, if any, that usually ships on plastics and screens? Did you try removing the plastic protective shield that ships with the D7000 and view from the lcd straight?

Welcome to the forum, perminna. Does this happen when you store jpgs, as well? Have you tried another white balance setting? I think it sounds like a suspect screen, but it may also be a problem with the white balance.

First thing I'd say is to restore default settings (details on page 151 of your manual).
Second do the firmware update.
If your screen still looks green go to your local camera shop and ask to compare it to one of their D7000 cameras...you'll know straight away if there's a colour difference and I'm sure they won't mind.
If it is still showing a colour cast then you've got a faulty rear screen and you should take it back to where you bought it and ask for a replacement.

I've had Nikon D7000 for 4 weeks now. I've previously owned a D60 and D80 (which I still have). Nikon D7000 is such a great camera and the high ISO performance is amazing. I constantly use ISO 4000, even 6400 indoors. I have one problem with the camera though, and I would like to know if anyone else has experienced it. I tried to find similar topics via Google but my quest wasn't successful.

The problem:
The photos look green (strong yellowish green tint) on the camera's screen although they would look just fine on a computer screen (I have iMac + Snow Leopard + Lightroom 3 with newest updates). The situation is the same for both indoor and outdoor photos. The greenish tint on camera screen makes it very difficult to evaluate the photos in camera.

When the photos are imported into Lightroom, and until the software loads them properly, a similar greenish version of the photos are shown in Lightroom view too. The photos look okay after LR has loaded them up. As far as I know I shouldn't have any automated image processes on in Lightroom.

I shoot RAW images in Adobe RGB 14-bit mode. sRGB or 12-bit mode do not make the image look better on camera's screen.

Is there something wrong with my D7000 or is this normal? And if this is normal, can I fix it in some way. It's freaking annoying!

Another smaller problem is that D7000 seems to have slightly poorer auto white balance when compared to D80. :/
