That DVD really has no more info than the manual that came with your speedlite (the sb-700 manual is quite good).

I suggest, if you are paying money, to instead buy the box set from strobist. Just google "strobist dvd". It looks like the second entry (theflashcentre) is in the UK. The DVD's cost 100 quid, but there is pretty much everything you are ever likely to need on 8 discs.

Well, the e-bay sale resulted in a home burned copy of the Nikon DVD coupled with a badly photocopied cover. Great.

I really can't understand why Nikon seems to be restricting this DVD to the US.

Good suggestion, but I'd already given it a shot. Amazon.com won't ship it to the UK. There's some kind of restriction on it.

The DVD is fairly cool for a beginner. It starts with 35 mins of basic lighting, as in on-camera, bounce, shoot through, etc. then it goes on about a 30 minute demonstration of how to set the various flash guns for CLS (stops at the SB900 due to the year it was made) and after that there is about an hour and a half of following Joe McNally as he does a few speedlight stints. Oh, and there is a few minutes of Bob doing a macro shoot on a fob watch in there as well.

Bob and Joe, despite being experienced shooters, talk in real simple terms so that what is going on is conveyed clearly to the viewer.

If you're new to off-camera flash and new to the CLS, then it's a good DVD to own, in my humble opinion.

I think the personal import allowance before customs start charging is £34? You're going to be well under that, so there should be no additional costs. I haven't heard of that DVD, is it worth getting hold of a copy? How much detail does it go into?

Anyone know how I can get hold of the NIKON Guide Creative Lighting Photography DVD by Bob Krist Feat Joe McNally in the UK please?

It's available from Amazon.com in the USA for $23.44. Expect to pay $8 shipping to the UK. That's still less than GBP 20.00 in total.

You are unlikely to be charged import duty and VAT on entry to the UK. However, if you are unlucky, the customs clearance usually costs GBP 8.50, import duty is 5.5% and you will pay VAT at 20% on the total of the purchase price, shipping, import duty and customs clearance fee.

I have never been charged import duty on a single DVD, only on boxed sets. But there is always a risk.

I'm watching a few, but they're more expensive than the legit (as in, first hand) copies. E-bay has become really expensive these days.
