43rumors and mirrorlessrumors just posted an article saying Nikon will announce their "PRO" mirrorless camera in April, adding "trusted sources already told us that Nikon will use some kind of “tweaked” Sony sensor. Nikon tested two sensors, a 16 megapixel and a 24 megapixel sensor. We don’t know yet if Nikon will use only one of those or both sensors!"

A colleague of mine was told that the D800/D900 is rumored to have a poor low light ISO compared to the D700 by a samys rep but that was in march (I really don't believe that the rep was well informed)

What do you make of the "Sony rumored to announce 24MP APS-C sensor, what would Nikon do? (Nikon D400)" article on the blog ?
Personally 24MP on an APS-C sized sensor sounds crazy, I doubt Nikon will use it and as David Lee (Nikon Senior Vice President) said here http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1294696074.html...

"Lee: what we've seen is that the market in the DSLR space, much more than the compact digital camera space, they get the idea of total image quality more than the average point-and-shoot customer. So we really try to make it a balance of the end-result image quality, giving the most resolution to be competitive in the marketplace, yet still always keeping in mind that total end picture quality.

DE: That's interesting; to paraphrase a little bit, it sounds like the Nikon customer and their sensibilities let you relax a little from the megapixel race, and focus more on image quality, and your customers understand that tradeoff, as opposed to just reacting to the number of megapixels.

Lee: Absolutely."

"early rumors floating around that the D400 could go back to the PRO body design of the Nikon D2xs"...hmmm lol ?

In built drive Broxi?

Kenh571 said:
Do you mean battery pack with extra controls and shutter button?

Yeah, a built in battery pack like the D3,D3s and D3x...I always call it a drive because they were motordrives on film cameras.
It'll be one of the ways the D400 will be different from the D7000, and of course the price...just a rumour I heard from someone lol.

Not to mention that most of the time rumors go in circles. Someone's "secret source" often times is another person or place that heard the info along time ago on NR, lol.

I got sent a picture of the D800 already :^)

Rumors from other source are aways welcome and I get them almost daily (via the contact form). The problem is that I do not know how reliable they are and most of the time do not post them online. Of course I have burned many times because some of them turned out to be true - the recent example is the new Samsung NX11 - I got a tip a week ago, but though the name is very weird and did not publish it online. The camera was announced yesterday.

There doesn't seem to be a thread about rumours that members have heard outside nikonrumors and other online blogs/forums.
Everyone has a few contacts in the industry, someone who works for the local camera shop or a photographer who tests for various companies etc...so what have you heard that might well be legitimate?
I've heard that the D400 will have an inbuilt drive like the D3 series, and no D4 in 2011.
