Not my thing and never don't this type of work before, but I think it turned out.

Without question my photography skills have jumped 1000 fold from where they were just 12 months ago. Thank you all for helping me along the way with your feed backs as well as your continues contribution to the forums in how many of you go about taking pictures. Here is mine for 2012

While Probably not my fave I do really like the way this one came out...

I have been here for a short time in 2012. During that period I have learned so much from the forum in general and studying Exif data. I do also want to thank those who have viewed my snaps and commented both positive and otherwise. How can one progress if all they receive are handshakes. I also find it interesting to loking at those each has selected and check to see if i put them on my favorite list...so far pretty amazing. My favorite has to be this post. And to be honest, before I got home and really looked at the image did I realize that I did get the shot.

I haven't had much of a chance to shoot too much this year. But I did do some macro shooting and this was my favorite shot.

Nikon D40 at F/11 at 1/320th on the 105mm macro.

The depth of field was an issue because the leaf was not flat, but it reminds me of some of the shots that NASA makes of riverbeds from low earth orbit.

I like this image due to colour and narrow depth of field. This woodpecker was more interested in finding food than worrying about people, so I was able to get rather close.

I suppose if I have to choose just one, this would be it because the lighting was tricky and changing fast:

tcole your right it is interesting seeing what people choose. Everyone enjoys different things and I think thats why photography is such a great medium.

I don't know about best of the year, but this is one of the better of the recents

Many of you have seen this, but it is my best of the year. It took a few weeks of scouting and learning Osprey's habits, tide preference and a few other small indicators, then 7 mornings of waiting in my spot...

Some amazing shots so far.

I like this shot, but it's hard to separate the shot from the goosebumps you're feeling when you've got a shutte whizzing by you, so it may not be a "great" shot, as such.

Not sure it's my "best," but it was the best one of this series . . .

Nice idea to round out a great year for photography. There have been a lot of great photos posted on this site to say the least. I was so excited last April when I received my D800e and I'd have to say that this was probably my best shot this year:

Stunning photos in this sticky.... I always struggle with "best shot". What I like that I capture and what others enjoy are usually very different. This is my favorite of the year.

Although there are more artistic photos in my collection I chose this one because of the rare opportunity to shoot it and 2 other reasons:
1.) Unless there is a pressing or dire need for the President to return to West Palm Beach in the coming years I don't think this huge piece of technology will be sitting on a tarmac near me anytime soon.
2.) Even though there were 100s of people parked along a side street taking obstructed pictures I chose to run 1/4 mile, cross some yellow and black ribbon labeled "Do Not Cross" and join 6 other people for a few snaps. As I was walking away Palm Beach Sheriffs deputies were approaching with lights and siren bursts getting them out of there.

Am done with all that high flying stuff. Retirement
and a slow boat going nowhere fast - bliss!

And I've got it ( the stadium ) in blue and green as well ! I wouldn't say it is my 2012's best but possibly the night I enjoyed most ( taking photographs ) .
