That's risky no? I would think that there would be high number of wasted shots in this type of situation.

Or are you just that Awesome?

Film makes it a lot easier. Film long exposures > digital. Actually during a meteor shower you can probably pick up lots of ones that you wouldn't see with your naked eye. A 15 minutes long exposure would probably capture at least one meteor I would have to think...the odds seem with you on that.

I actually did go out into the rugged wilderness to try to catch some falling stars last night. I had a crystal clear sky to work with too. I froze my sweet cheeks and chubby fingers off but I had fun going to the bathroom outdoors :^) I was shooting with my last rolls of Kodachrome :^( so it'll be a while before I know how many National Geographic cover shots I got :^P

Saw one while walking the dog, when looking north around 9PM. Jupiter is also close to the crescent moon. Rather cold tonight for central Florida, actually bone chilling cold, low predicted to be 25F.

Sure it's kind of clear outside, I am far enough from the city that I could maybe get some good shots.

It is also 2F outside.

Snow haze here.
Never shot meteors before. My assumption is that they would be too faint to show up through a mild haze. Is this right?

Anyone shooting tonight's big event? Apparently it's all week long but tonight (12/13-12/14) is supposed to be the best night of it, with a chance of up to 80 meteors going by every how. The highest number of them will be around 11 o'clock central... it's gonna be cold (Low 30s) but should be fun to use my D7000 like this for the first time.
