What do I want from them (not camera related)?

#1. Use that rather nice young lady we men have been drooling about from Glee for adverts. Dump all the other campaigns.

#2. Use a different P.R. company.

#3. Actually put stock into the retail channel that goes more than 5% of the way towards satisfying demand (and I mean more like 80%, not 10%). Nobody wants to put more out on day 1, as the pent up demand would get satisfied too quickly and the product would peak ab out week 2.

Oh all right... Camera lusts...

Make a medium format range.

1. More fast, wide-angle, normal, and short-tele, FX lenses with VR. Or, in-body stabilization.
2. Expanded NPS seminar program, open to the public.
3. More aggressive industry involvement, product placement, brand evangelizing, etc.
4. T-shirts! Key fobs! Penlights! More fun Nikon swag, in general!

What I want from Nikon in 2011 is a new proline camera and a new speed light.

I know the D4 will have 240fps High Speed video probably 1080p with high ISO which will totally kill Cannon then rival RED at that point

Then I want a new speed light like the SB-900 with that incandescent filter gel similar to the sb-700 only thing that stops me from getting it is the lack of PC port to wire up my pocket Wizzard to it. But I absolutely love that filter

New flash plz and accessories.

Need to drop that new D4.

I agree with the posters who see the need for a shift in emphasis to lenses targeting the prosumer. For example, it's sad that those of us who shoot wildlife, auto races, air shows and so forth have to look to third parties for affordable longer lenses. We are willing to sacrifice high speed, razor sharpness to the edges at maximum aperture, or size and weight that requires a pack mule... just try to nail the 300-500mm range with something that costs less than the price of a used car. I agree with the OP that asking for specific lenses is beyond the scope of his original question... but I think what I'm suggesting here is something more general, that Nikon pay a little more attention to those of us in the middle. Consumers and pros are both well-served by Nikon's product line, but serious photographers on restricted budgets could do with a bit more consideration.

Second, it would be nice if Nikon and Adobe could get together to improve file compatibility. I'd love it if you could open a RAW file in ACR, click on "As Shot," and see something that looks exactly like the camera's jpg. As is, ACR seems to be able to read certain embedded information, but other in-camera adjustments that are applied to the jpg remain invisible unless you open the RAW file in Nikon's software. Some sort of open standard would be nice. Granted, Photoshop's sharpening is not going to perfectly match Nikon's... and perhaps patents and licensing for proprietary processes like Active D-lighting would make my request a naive dream... but the OP asked the question so there it is.

Next, I'd like Nikon to work on their closeup gear... extension tubes and/or bellows with contacts, something that will take us beyond 1:1 while still supporting the camera body's electronics. How about a 'rack-less' bellows (or 'variable extension tube' if you prefer), built like an empty zoom lens? Too specific a request? OK, let's just say that I'd like to see Nikon apply the same forward thinking design to their closeup gear (which now seems rather out-dated) that they do to lenses and bodies.

Finally, I'd love to see Nikon incorporate sensor-shift image stabilization. Yes, there are times that lens stabilization works better... but I'd still like to have the option to use it with lenses that don't have their own stabilization. Nikon really has done the right thing in it's efforts to support our older lenses... adding AI lens coupling to the D7000 is a move I'd never expect to see from another manufacturer. So let's take it a step further ... in-camera IS would really breathe some new life into our older lenses and increase overall versatility. I have to admit to a certain amount of Pentax envy in regard to a friend who's got a K-7 and a collection of cherished vintage lenses... all of which are now image-stabilized.

Don't know about other parts of the world but you do see Nikon advertising here in the UK.
Jamie Oliver advertises the D3100, Robbie Williams advertises Coolpix and Nikon sponsor a tv show called Hollyoaks (a soap aimed at young adults).
Nikon and Canon are not the Ferraris of the camera world, Leica take that crown.

What about our beloved Mr Kutcher? I think Nikon needs to redo their PR crap and make better ads and more collector goodies (and fire the idiot who inspected my D90). I couldn't find any more D3s caps on the ebay. Also it would be nice to see that 28-200 f2.8 sometime or some other innovative lens (or an update to a prime like the 135 f/2, 50mm f/1.2 or something along those lines). Why are people crapping their pants for a 70-200mm f4 as there are 50 gazillion other nikkors that cover that range nicely AT f/4 or the not much different (on dx at least) f/5.6

I want them to advertise more. I see Canon ads frequently, but never Nikon. On the other hand their sales don't seem to be hurting, judging from the D7000 launch.

PB,

If you want 16/2.8, you should check out the Tokina 11-16.
It's not VERY big.
For tourism, I plan to carry just it, the 35, and a 105.
For indoors it'd be nice to carry just a 24 or a 24 and a 70 (the 2 lenses I am dreaming of).

My interest is a lense ideal for portraiture indoor and street scenes on the DX sensor, not a DX lense for the sake of DX. I think the 85/1.8D is not optimal for portraits on DX-- I have a friend with 85/1.4 who rarely uses that lense for the same reason. It's also not AF-S so for fast moving objects, something as quick as the 35/1.8 would be a godsend.
Voightlander-Cosina has a 58mm lense that looks somewhat promising for $400, but it's manual focus which restricts it's application, so if Nikon made a plastic housing AFS lense like the 35 but 70mm (a little further from the 50mm) there would be a cult following (if it had great bokeh). If these lenses have a little correctable distortion so it's not "pro" that's fine.

I think it is very unlikely that Nikon would make a 70mm DX prime, since they already make an 85mm DX prime.

A 16mm F2.8G DX, or 8mm F2.8G DX would be nice to have (12 or 24mm equivalent and non fisheye thanks!) and would be on the top of my list.

I'd prefer a 70mm AFS built like the 35DX.
The other lense I really want is a 24mm DX AFS, again like the 35mm.
On aperture side, 1.8 would be good but the bokeh is more important.
I'd buy these lenses if they're priced $400 or less.
