It appears that Apple wants you to upgrade to iLife '11 (containing iPhoto '11) or buy Aperture to be able to use the RAW compatibility program for Nikon D7000. I only have iPhoto '09 and do not own Aperture. iLife '11 is a $79 program and it's getting bad reviews from loyal Apple users. I'm kinda thinking that money is better spent toward something like Lightroom.

FYI, if y'all didn't see Admin's post on the blog, Apple released their camera raw update for the Nikon D7000. Time for some editing fun! =)

oh wow!! at the very least, can you at least use 'DMGConverter' to convert them into more recognizable files so at least you don't have to use NX2? i was gonna go that route also before i realized they also released an update for lightroom so at least now i can scroll through without having to open all in photoshop. i'd look into dmgconverter tho...i tried that nx2 for a few days...couldn't do it anymore...you're a stronger person than i

I'm in the same boat as you, kotoriwam, except that I got my D7000 back in October, and I don't have Photoshop. The only program that can view the RAW files is Nikon's View NX2, which I dislike. For right now I'm just saving all the RAW files for when the update comes out, and making some .jpgs to put on flickr/facebook.

yeesh!! i guess that makes sense. one of these days...perhaps they'll begin to communicate. then again...it is steve jobs i'm talking about isn't it. ah hell...something to look forward to. thanks for the responses guys!

You'll have to wait for Apple to provide support for the Nikon D7000 RAW format. The latest CameraRaw from Adobe only makes adobe software recognize the files. It does not give any other software (ie. MacOS finder, etc...) the ability to read those new NEF files.

Ok, so got a hold of a D7000 and so far, so good, although, one thing is i can no longer scroll through pictures on my finder or desktop. it doesn't show the thumbnails so it's not recognizing the files as picture files so i have to open the entire batch in photoshop to see and choose which picture i'd like to play with.
