I switched to Nikkor I haven't looked back. I've tried a couple of Sigmas as a favor (long story) and didn't like the experience.

It's more than brand loyalty, too. You have a colorimetric flavor to your work, too.

I haven't used the lenses for a long period of time, but personally the Sigma lenses I have tried are better then the Tamrons...especially the EX ones. I guess you probably have more experience then me though. I always do come back to just getting the Nikon though because I know I don't have to worry.

Have you read any of David DuChemin? Shoots Canon, Trying out Nikon, and is being sponsored by Sigma. If you look at his blog he has some interesting comments.

I almost bought the older one but am pausing to see this. The AF override is what interests me, especially with 1.4. I am really not a fan of Sigma or their build quality, resale value but I do have a 15mm fisheye that I love from them so I know they could make another good prime.

It's still a sigma. I'd rather stick to the older AF-D 85mm. Even if it's a used copy. Nikkor or Nothing!

Has anyone tried the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 or have seen any good reviews. Seems like a good option even if it is a Sigma.
