It would just be so nice to not have to carry around a bunch of extra equipment and then hook up each individual receiver, let alone not have to spend an extra $30-$150 for each flash. IR has limitations that RF can over come.
Perhaps Nikon doesnt want to put PW etc out of business, but if they did then people wouldnt be as likely to buy offbrand flashes. And if Nikon did go to RF, think of all the people who would switch to Nikon.

it's not likely. there are too many differing regulations and standards for RF internationally for Nikon to bother getting into that rat's nest. Especially when PocketWizards and others are already doing a great job.

I'm not sure Nikon necessarily wants to put PocketWizards out of business. They're not a competitor. To do it reliably, it would increase the cost of their bodies and speedlights by quite a bit.

I think I read somewhere that it's pretty much impossible for them to do that because laws on electromagnetic emissions vary so much from country to country.

Do you think it's possible that Nikon would incorporate RF into their cameras and flashes in the future? It would seem like a wise move. If Nikon and Canon made the switch, they could put pocketwizards and the like out of business.
