If I were you I'd think of a Panasonic GF1, GF2 or the Sony NEX...they'll give you very good picture quality without the bulk or cost ?

I think it depends on the person and how much money you have. If you're the type that has to have the latest and greatest and always wanting to upgrade stuff all the time, then go with the d7000. If you're willing to accept older technology(that's still amazing btw) then you can go with the d90 that like almost half the price of the d7000. The d90 was a great camera when it was released, is still a great camera today, and will still be a great camera a few years from now.

If you're new to photography I think I'd recommend a D90+another lens or a speedlight for the same price of a D7000.

I bought my D90 back in the summer, then saw the D7000 coming out...naturally I have to have the newest thing out so I thought about buying the D7000 once just the body became available but for someone like yourself if its your first DSLR, save the $, get the D90..and if you were going to spend the $$ anyways, buy some lense, you're not going to know the difference with the 2 cameras.

If you have the money go for the one you like most. From the photography perspective, I doubt somebody would tell the difference between the images you are going to make from both cameras.

Hi ,

I am a newbie and this is my first post. I am about to buy my first DSLR, at first i wanted D90 then like many patiently waited for new model to come out. Now that D7000 is out I am getting confused with all the reviews about dead pixel, autofocusing issues, sharpness.
I am a newbie , have been using P&S but love taking pictures and ready to get my first DSLR. I mostly take pictures of my baby but also love traveling and taking pictures of our travels ( landscapes, cities etc )
As a first DSLR camera will D7000 be very complicated to use compared to d90 ? For people that have had both d90 and d7000 would you still recommend d7000 over d90 ?
I just want a good camera that i can have for the next few years before needing to upgrade again.
Thank you all for advice
