I can justify a 130$ lens more then a 230$ lens. I may end up returning the lens if i dont like it and will get my money back to save up if im not happy

Why not spend $100 more and get the 35mm f2 AFD instead http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-nikon-35mm-f2-d-af-nikkor-lens/p12876?utm_source=aw&awc=2298_1289926064_83ad635463dda447f12cb156bcd66902 ?

Trust me, This is gonna be a walk around/low light fun lens. I have my 50, and 85 for serious low light work. But i got this as a experiment with the 35mm range at 1.8 before i save up next year for the 35 1.4

I took a leap of faith and just placed the order :). I didnt buy new. I bought a 8+ condition from B&H for 129$. I also own a D90 so if it isnt as i thought on my D3, then ill just place it on my D90 and use that as a walk around camera. I think id actually take more photographs with a lighter body and lens

I saw results uncropped and its surprising how good it is. Minimial fallout/vingette but then again i like the effect

As was mentioned in the other thread - close focus is also important. Focus far away and you'll not just have vignetting, but totally black corners.

http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=2586

I wouldn't call those suitable for a "walk around" lens, as it is more of what _I_ would consider a "one trick pony" on FF.

There's an old thread in here somewhere, can't find it, but it supposedly works in 5:4 crop.

As a walkaround lens, if you're worried about it not working, why not get a 35mm F/2? It may not be sharp, but you can guarantee it'll work with the D3.

It's not like it's that much slower, plus it's not that expensive either.

oh boy, I'm just saying you will get vignetting at f/8 and up, I'm just telling you my experience. I don't know what are you expecting. I don't know if you know.
If you already own all those lenses and camera, $130 is like getting a hot dog with a soda at the corner. The cost is nothing compared with all you already have, and I wouldn't even bother spending time asking advice from other people, just go and get it. Is it worth it? I don't know? It is for me. Try it and see... if that's not what you was expecting just sell it back on Ebay you are going to get your money back or more.

What do you mean get vignetting F8 and above? Im looking to get this lens to shoot at 1.8 walking around lens. I am already covered in the 2.8 area on my 24-70.

I do expect vingetting, I like vignetting in photographs. but would it be worht it?

It works fine but you will get vignetting at f/8 and up, even so, the vignetting is not that bad compared with some zoom lenses. For that price you can't be wrong.

I have read that this lens is quite usuable on a full frame camera. As a owner of a D3, i am curious of this lens for the price
I am a owner of a 24-70,70-200 2.8 VRII, 50 1.4 and have a 85 1.4 AF-S on its way.
The 35 1.4 is on my list of future lens, but i thought about grabbing this little bugger for 130USD used at a 8+ condition from B&H. I want the 35 the most as a walk around lens but with me saving up for the D4 release, im short on money for the other lenses at the moment.
Any one have good or bad thoughts of using this lens on a D3?
