Re autofocus : Since I have been considering getting a D7000 myself I have been paying more attention to the tv shows I have been watching. Its pretty clear to me now that they all manually focused with lots of missed focus in many scenes. However, if I was not looking for it I would not have noticed and did not notice in the past. So manual focus seems the way to go if you are making any video. I think all it needs is practice(and retakes ! :-) ).

VW-Keith
I have the same problem with the auto focus. Not a single lens of mine will auto focus.
I am looking for more detailed information on this issue. I have heard the lenses need to be AF-S.

Cool video!!! I just got my D7000 and have tried the video mode, I am struggling to get any good results with the autofocus. I don't know if it my camera setting, lack of experience with video or just that I had high hopes for the autofocus. I have tried my 18-105 and my 50 1.8 lens and the best result I can get are with the 50mm in manual. Any ideas what the best settings for the autofocus to function to pan around a room without going in and out of focus all the time???
Thanks a million for any help.

For me, and considering this is the latest video offering, video with SLR's still has some way to go. When the wind moved the branches faster, the movement went jerky. That right there is a deal breaker for me.

I would love a D7000 though but like with my D5000 I wouldn't do video at all. Ever.

Just my 2c.

Agree with the tripod suggestion. I am no videographer.. but it looks good, however may need more content or story?

The snow is nice and I can't wait till winter arrives here (often not before the end of December) but you should really consider using a tripod when filming static shots.
