A remote record release of some kind would be very beneficial to camera operators using video-capable-DSLRs. Not only for remote operation as suggested here, but for simple record-start function, even when operating the camera locally. The body of a DSLR is too small to depress the record button without introducing some camera shake, even on a sturdy tripod.

Since I've never used any of the PocketWizard products, I'm unaware if these units have this capability, or if the record button can be reassigned on the camera (probably not). I don't know of any solution (there may none). Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly agree, that such a capability would be extremely useful.

I have the d300s, I wouldn't use it at a wedding at all unless I had to.

But might be nice to have a video.

You don't think that remote video trigger would be useful? I can see endless possibilities.

If you are green at shooting video, I would recommend just sticking with stills and use a different lens on the D300s instead. Don't try for the first time at a wedding like that

If I was shooting video, the D300s would not be my pic for a video DSLR

I just thought of something when I was thinking about shooting weddings.

It would be nice to use my d300s to shoot video at a wedding and my d700 to take stills.

The problem being that it's better to have more than one angle in a video.

The solution would be to have multiple video dslrs set up where you want them, and being able to remotely start video recording.

At present I am unaware whether this is possible or not.

It would seem that it is in nikon park as the connections on dslr are not able to communicate with other functions, like the OK button.

The simple solution to this would be, being able to reassign video start to the shutter release button.

Then I could use my normal remotes to start recording video while walking around taking stills.
