Thanks adamz... I've been planning an Ikea run for a while; now I have something else to look for.

go to IKEA store and get one of the plastic boxes - work great when You use it as a light table - just put Your SB inside and use d300 flash as master. get also some of the white chopping boards - work nice as diffusors. if You want to position the light from the box more directly towards the top lid You can just use aluminum foil inside of the box.

It's that time of year when snow is looming outside my apartment, and that means five months of winter, and five months of me not going outside for fun.

I don't think telling myself to 'suck it up, buttercup, go outside' is going to motivate me, so I've decided to convert my dining room into a mini-studio for the winter months and do my shooting indoors.

My intent is to shoot still life and macro. My goal is to set up an environment as cheaply as possible, mostly because I don't expect to keep it for spring/summer/fall of next year.

Gear I have to work with includes an SB-900, three SB-200s, Tripod, D300s and a laptop running Camera Control Vsomething, a 35mm f/1.8, 105mm f/2.8 an 18-200mm and a hammer.

I'm not very handy but I'm dangerous and willing to try anything.

I've watched videos, looked at pictures of studios, read web sites and so forth about the kinds of things I'll need, but I'm wondering if any of you have done something similar and have advice to share or suggestions on things to try.
