I'm not sure you should pay too much attention to prices coming down when a camera is realtively new...Here in the UK the D7000 isn't yet in stock but has already dropped in price from £1100 to £1030 at some places ?

I think $1400 was really optimistic for that camera. Nikon's marketing strategy was better in this case.
Nikon: we're upgrading the D90. Look at all the extra stuff you get [small print: pay an extra few hundred dollars].
Canon: we're downgrading the 50D. Don't worry about the extra stuff you're losing.
I think they should have just marketed it as a super rebel.

You're right, the 60D is selling at 1099 at B and H, that's a huge drop then.

If Pentax had a better lens lineup, outside of super small primes, (that aren't as nice for crop sensor bodies as full frame) the K-5 would be an interesting camera.

Nuff said. The 7D can be had for almost that price in here.. so when the 60D was released I was like "WHAAAT?". Quite a lot of money for a flip-out screen.

Compared to the d7000, which brings some new stuff on the table and with a very good price tag. Hopefully the d7000 is a durable camera put together from good components.
I just hate stuff that gets broken soon after purchase.

Well, there is always the Pentax K-5 option if Nikon fails me.

Yes, that's exactly why the D7000 is so attractive to me.

iDunno said:
The 60D is nearly twice as much as a t2i....

The fact that they're all 18mp doesn't help either- the T2i, the 60D and the 7D.

Nikon seems to have done a better job differentiating their models.

From $1400 down to first $1150 and now to $999 - just in 2 months . Canon must be having concerns about its performance against the D7000 :-)
