The fact that I can get great results in lighting conditions that I used to consider too dark to even try with my D60.
Not to mention all the buttons (goodbye constant menu digging!) focus points, autofocus speed, and how it is just plain more comfortable to hold on to than my little old D60. I will love that little thing forever, but my word - upgrading is nice. :)
Side note, I am also enjoying the focal range of the 18-105. I know it is not pro level glass...but I'm not a professional photographer and it works great for chasing my kids around in the woods.

So having it for a week, I would say that for right now, my favorite parts are the ability to focus tack sharp and very quickly and the dynamic range.

Ok. I was just at a pool hall (billiards) and the lighting is so crappy.

Before with my D90 and D60 I had to revert to B/W but with the D7K... 4000 ISO was nothing.

I'm in total love.

From the stories I have read on the internet, it sounds like you should consider yourself lucky if you have the 7DK. All major companies do not have any in stock and only small distributors have it? Is this correct? If so, Nikon really dropped the ball with the launch of the 7DK.

Cool options listed so far by the way :)

Ok... add this to my favorite list.

I love the U1 & U2 mode.

At first I was hesitant because it looked like it would only save it as a Programed mode but if I switch to Manual, change settings then save it to U1 and U2 it saves it as a Manual mode too.

Have to agree with Ryan (I'm coming from a D40). Don't have a single favorite feature yet. It's just plain better!

I managed to get my hands on a D90 and D300s a few days before I picked up my D7000 at the Colorado Springs BB. I'm very pleased with how the D7k feels in the hands. It's also lighter than I expected, especially for having a mag-alloy frame.

Obviously going from 3 AF points to 39 is HUGE. It's also faster, thanks to the built-in motor (my Tokinas AF now - yay!). So much easier to get the shot, and the framing *I* choose, not whatever limitations the D40 had.

ISO is really high on my list. 6400 is twice as high as my D40 even reached, and it looks like it's less than 800 on the D40! So amazing. I just can't wait to stick the ol' Tokina macro on there and see what happens.

As mentioned before by krevlingoodspeed, having the shooting modes as a dial is AWESOME. The D40 was always forgetting to stay in remote, or timer, or whatever. That will be very helpful.

6 fps is awesome too. Sometimes it's too fast, so I'm glad there's a Continuous-Low mode. Quiet mode has come in handy already, when shooting animals and unsuspecting people! =P

Also, the video is fantastic (even though the AF is not). I wish there were more fps options (like 60fps even at low res), but I can live with that. Can't wait to do some more shooting! (BTW, depending on how you shoot, I'd recommend at least a 4 GB card for stills, and 8 GB for video. I tend to shoot at least several pictures of the same thing, so I may upgrade to 8 GB in both slots)

Live view is handy, but I won't use it much. I can just about feel the battery being wasted. The AF in live view is slow, too. Always hunts, even in good light. Without LV the autofocus barely hunted in almost complete darkness (where I doubt the D40 would have been able to focus at all).

Sorry for the long post - I'm just so excited! =P Congrats to all who have gotten theirs already, and hope that everyone else gets theirs soon!

If you use remotes a lot, look into the phottix plato, kgs. It works with any release mode and has a wireless range of a couple hundred feet, I think. It's $40 or so from ebay.

I just got my battery charged and I'm playing with it at an open house intermittently. I came from a D60.

First thing I noticed in a test shot was the dynamic range difference. It's incredible in comparison. Then I noticed the bright and full viewfinder. Then it was the controls, then the faster autofocus and more control over focus and I haven't gotten home to put on my wide angle or primes yet. I think the FPS, better white balance, faster and more accurate focus and dynamic range really are considerably better.

I don't have one favorite feature yet....still wrapping my head around how much better it is. Don't get me wrong, in great light for still subjects the D60 was/is fantastic. This camera is just on a completely different level.

(I am not a pro, just a real estate agent who has fallen in love with photography since I got my D60 a couple of years ago. This camera is the perfect natural progression for me.)

Enjoy the camera!

As much as I enjoy shooting with my D40, I feel as if I've outgrown it as well.

Ok messing around with it more I am extremely happy about the dial that allows me to leave it on remote and even if I turn it off, it won't forget.

Making that an actual dial is AWESOME!

Also I have to say when making it do face priority and then turning it on to live view and having it auto focus, it makes it x100 easier to take a picture of yourself or friends in a group because it will keep all your faces in focus.

Have not found one complaint with my camera yet.

Mine would be its invisibility cloak. Don't you just hate it when you forget to turn it off and you can't remember when you left it last time? It sucks doesn't it?

I guess that's how Nikon Inc. and Amazon must be feeling now.

For those that upgraded from the D90 or lower what is your favorite feature?

I want to say everything but I am in love with the quieter shutter and quiet mode as well as the Virtual Horizon. (I know it's not new but ehh).

Subject tracking is amazing as well and really I love the ability to take still frames from movies! Amazing! I had two cameras just so I could do video with one and then take pictures but this seems like it can save me the effort.
