Not sure how you can compare early 1990's Fuji and Kodak digital point & shoots to the D90. Your friends landscapes might look decent online but I seriously doubt their photos will look good at full resolution against the D90. The highest setting on the DS-7 is 640 X 480 or something like that!

The T50 is a film camera. It can produce great quality prints (especially with pro FD glass) but it's totally automatic. It doesn't have any manual controls other than aperture priority exposure. So not sure how you define "incredible pictures"?

By the way the Fuji is the "same" camera as the Apple QuickTake 200. I remember using one of those back in the day. It cost something like $700 dollars new back then! I still have my T50. I bought it brand spanking new and I've had it for over 30 years now.

To be very honest, whichever way that gets you the shot should be the most important factor. It certainly helps if you know your gear through and through, but who cares about the gear as long as you get the shot you want?

I have many friends that say the same thing. They also barrow my gear any chance they get as well ;)

They usually fall into two groups:
A) The Photoshop expert
or
B) The artist who says they do not know all that "Techy stuff" but secretly they really do and know their camera well.

The D90 certainly gives you the Tech part - the real learning curve is composition, color, etc., etc., etc. Start by ask your friend what they are looking at when they shoot, you may be surprised by looking though someone else's eyes!

Hi to one and all,

Being a amateur, and novice at this, I have just met an individual
who takes pictures with the above older cameras.

I am in awe of the beautiful pictures that have been shot with these!

I am curious as to whether others have taken incredible pictures with these
cameras, and while I really am a Nikon fan to be sure (have the NikonD90)
I must say the pictures are really beautiful! They are of scenery.

This is just a comment, and wonder if others have anything to share on this.
The individual is going to get a new camera. I do not know what kind, but of
course, I am a Nikon fan!

This person also feels strongly that the "kind of camera doesn't matter (I don't agree)
as the photo is more in the eye of the photographer."

I do feel that the camera matters but agree that much is in the eye of the photographer,
which I am constantly trying to get better at.

Any comments would be appreciate..

Thank You,
Ch7
