Not to mention that the D7k cannot bracket as many shots.

No one knows, but probably not, KK. Even with the grip the D7000 has a max of 6 fps.

Would there be any reason why this would not work on the D7k?

Im waiting to get the grip this winter when the eagles migrate back, but this was a nice trick to learn in the mean time. I've missed the speed of D300 ever since I went to FX, so it was nice to hear the sound of 7ish fps again.

yes this works. it is handy, but i like the grip better because;

the flash bracketing is faster than 5fps, but not as fast as 8fps. i don't know where they came up with the figure, but the grip is def faster.

i love using the grip in portrait mode.

with 8 high capacity AA's you get a lot of use. I spent the morning shooting soccer for 2 hours, then went and shot eagles in the afternoon for an hour. the camera was on almost the whole time at the soccer game, and for somne time shooting the eagles. i still have power left without using the onboard battery.

but as i said, this little trick is handy until you get a grip.

the grip also frees up a button.
