My D90 is a terrific camera that produces great images. I hope that in it's replacement that the camera is designed with the same balance of image and technical specs that the D90 has. It may not be the most expensive camera but from a subjective point of view it is a great camera

So the hierarchy could run like this?

DX: Pro full-frame
DXXX: Enthusiast full-frame
DXX: Advanced DX
DXXXX: Entry-level and mid-level DX

As the specs for the 95 come into focus (pardon the pun), it does seem increasingly likely that the 300 will be quietly phased out (especially if the 95 sports the better view finder and dual card slots); it also makes sense that the 400, when it comes, could be -- dare I say it -- an affordable FX. If Nikon is, in fact, now developing (and perhaps also handling the fabrication of?) its own sensors, maybe they've found a way to introduce a more affordable FX sensor.

So the next year or so would see a 90 replacement, followed by a 700 refresh/replacement, followed hopefully by a "consumer" FX, with an EVIL camera thrown into the mix for good measure.

Interesting times...

The D90 replacement will more than likely be a bit more expensive. Nikon's making room for an "affordable" full frame at the D300 original MSRP price point perhaps? :^)

No, the D5000 replacement will be the D90's true replacement, the D300 just gets replaced by the so called D90 replacement. Other members speculated on that, and that sounds like a good idea. The D5000 and D90 were too close in specification anyway. It's just a shuffling in my opinion, nothing is really lost. What might be nice is if the D95 gets the D90's price tag, it might be a steal, so to speak. But then it leaves room up top for a D700 replacement to be cheaper too. Everyone wins!

What? Nikon may release a D90 replacement with a 100% viewfinder and dual memory slots, and maybe a better sensor than the D300 !!? Oh, NO. This can't be. I paid good money for my D300 so that I'd be better than those low-lifes with ONLY a D90. Nikon screwed it all up. I'm gonna sue !! All my photos will be crap from now on. What was Nikon thinking? (Have I left out any of the stupid rants? Oh, yeah ... I'm gonna switch to Canon !!) Have a good day. :-)
