Ok. I'll give you that one but......I think you are over thinking question. So what is your favorite lens...the one that would make you choose Nikon over ..say Canon?

I just know that more than a few Canon users would love to have the 14-24. In fact Nikon uses that lens alot when advertising their D3, D3s D3x. This really has nothing to do with individual preferences..it's a "System" question.

My lens of choice is the 105 Micro but I hardly think it defines the Nikon system.

Why would you want to compare? Are you planning on switching or something? There is no ONE lens. Different photographers with different needs need more than just ONE lens.

Which single lens defines Nikon; the lens that sets the Nikon system far and above all others. I used to think it was the 70-200mm f2.8 until I got the 14-24mm f2.8. The 300 f2.8 is a contender as well but I'm not sure how it compare to Canon version.
