Id suggest a D200, its perhaps the best deal in used bodies around. pro body, full controls recent sensor tech, etc.

you can generally find them for under $500 on ebay or equivalent.

K, thanks for the info guys, just wanted to see if it was as good as my D60. I have a couple of problems with my D60 that I really want to upgrade, but wont be buying a new camera (D400) until I grad this coming May. I though if the image was as good from the D1x then I would get it and sell my D60 since it upgrades one of my major problems with my D60. I guess if I can talk the guy down to a lower price like 300 or 350 I might get it and sell off my D60 and then I'll have some more money to put into more lenses or a new body when I get out of college. Since I got my F5 I have only shot film since the camera does what I need with speed and such. I wanted to see if I could find a digital that could do that before upgrading this coming summer.

The D1x also has another short coming, it uses nickel metal hydrate batteries, which are heavy, and have a rather shot life (200-250 shots IIRC). You'll get better images from a native 10MP sensor than a interpolated 5MP image. Any film appearance is due to the picture settings in camera, and can easily be changed in post processing.

I wouldn't bother. Not to say that they're bad cameras, but sensor technology really has advanced a lot since then. I wouldn't buy one unless you got it for really cheap. And I'm not sure if you can upconvert a raw image to higher resolution.

I have been reading up on some of the older pro bodies to get some info of them when I was thinking of moving up to a D2x instead of a D300, thats when I found people on flikr talking about how awesome their D1x still is and thats what they still use. Lots of people say they have a color film look to the images and have much better color then some of the newer cameras like my D60 and D80s. I wanted to see if any of you have or have used a D1x and if this is right. I also read that you can transfer the jpeg image into a RAW nef file and it goes from 5mp to 10mp. Is this true? If it is so much better then my D60 I found one I can buy for $400 and I see my camera selling for that much and more, it would be an even trade in price, is this worth it?
