Thanks guys. PB PM - I agree; jonnyapple - I guess the biggest thing pushing me towards the 300 over the 90 is that I'm looking to invest some time and effort in HDR photography and the 300's advanced bracketing ability would be a real plus. But I do keep looking at the D90 and asking myself if that (and a few other minor features) is really worth the extra money.

Welcome, BradsKat. If you're wondering about the D90, you probably already know that it's got a lot of supporters here, myself included. Use the difference for a lens or something else you need and I don't think you'll regret it.

In my opinion the warranty on the body alone is worth the extra $200 for getting the new camera over a used one.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've been enjoying the quality of the discussion on this forum for some time so I thought I'd finally seek some advice.

I bought a D70 when it first came out and I've loved that camera but it's time for a change. I went shopping for a new 70-300 VR lens (don't ask what happened to the old one :( ) and left with much bigger plans in mind. I now want to relegate my D70 to backup duty and get a new camera.

The price of the used 300 hasn't dropped quite as quickly as I thought it might with the 300s out but really that's what I'm struggling with now. Do I shell out the extra coin to get the new S or do I save some bucks and go with a gently used 300. Since I'm getting the lens in any case, that $200 rebate does help to make a case for the S. I will not use this camera for video - I have a perfectly good solution for that already so that feature does nothing for me. I *do* like the idea of being able to use the SD cards since I've got a handful of top quality SD cards already and my CF cards are starting to cause me trouble (camera can't read it, eject, reinsert, reformat, etc etc). Finally, I need to make a decision in the next two weeks as I need this camera by the end of June.

Appreciate any feedback you care to provide.

Brad
