1) Is the Raw file at 25MP or still 36MP when used in 1.2 crop mode?

25 MP

2) Is the FPS faster in 1.2 Crop mode?

Yes, 5 fps vs. 4 fps.

3) What shows in the Viewfinder in 1.2 crop mode?

The frame coverage reduces to 97% vertical and horizontal (vs. 100% in FX mode). You can grey out the area outside of the crop.

I just shot a RAW and 1.2 crop of a backdrop with multi colors and patterns.

14bit
RAW = 75MB
1.2 = 53MB

12bit

RAW=58
1.2=41

you get a black outline showing what will be in the photo (i belive you can also grey out the outer box). I think only in DX mode does FPS increase

Have been thinking that I may have waited too long for a D400 so now seriously considering a D800.

One of the factors for my decision that may tip the balance is the capability of the D800's 1.2 crop mode.

I have a few questions..
1) Is the Raw file at 25MP or still 36MP when used in 1.2 crop mode?
2) Is the FPS faster in 1.2 Crop mode?
3) What shows in the Viewfinder in 1.2 crop mode?

Anything else regarding the 1.2 crop mode that I don't know to ask?
Any pros/cons of the 1.2 crop mode?

Thanks for your help.
