This lens is great. I have the VC version. It's on my camera most of the time for portraits.

These tamrons (VC and non VC versions) are very well regarded. There are 3 versions of this lens. Dont get the Non VC BIM version( i have heard that the focus is slow, noisy and not very accurate..)

In that range there are none with VR/VC.. They have the market cornered for that. IF VR is not a concern then look into the Tokina 16-50,
There is also a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.0 OS that is quite well regarded as well.. Gives a bit more range with a slight penalty on aperture at F4.0

i just did a search and i was told that you can get one here with only 2300yuan (not from the common market of course...

i m thinking of it(TMRN 17 50 2.8 XR Di-II LD) too. mainly for its price.

how much is it there? here in Guangdong(where Tamron is) you can catch a price of 3200yuan or 469USD.

Thinking of getting a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 to go on a D300s,
What do you think of this lens.. ?
Is there a better lens with similar spec’s for similar money.. ?
