I still think it's better than doing nothing, mb. Even if you don't put a dent in the problem, you might inspire others to be more generous with their time. If 100% of the world population were this generous, I'm convinced there would be a lot less suffering.

Exactly! If everyone from the worlds working population spares a single can of food a month that would be billions of cans every month.

This is a noble effort really. But the sad truth is that there are more than a million of homeless people just in US and here goal of collecting 10000 cans for a year will hardly provide a single meal for less than 1 percent of that population.
Even if millions of people around the world were doing the same thing they would not be able to do much more than to feed all the homeless and hungry people in the world for more than a week.
We would have to do something much more serous if we want to do anything more than to make our selves filling better about this problem.

Very touching story about being down on your luck and finding your way.

Shay Kelley is traveling the USA in her old truck with her dog, and camera and visiting 50 states in 50 weeks. Along the way she is helping to collect canned goods for the homeless and documenting their stories and her adventure with her Nikon camera.

Read her story here:

So how many of you would be brave enough to do this? Or how many of you have just gone on a journey with no destination and just enjoyed going and taking pictures along the way?
