Well, it all depends on the price, gelu. I've also been very happy with the 50 1.8 and would rather use that and get a D700 replacement. I'd prefer to get an extra stop of performance from my camera than upgrade those two lenses.

PS I love metadata. I was curious and checked the lenses used for the pictures from this wedding.

Total shots: 1766
35 1.8: 657
17-50 2.8: 606
50 1.8: 301
70-200 2.8: 202

I can't give a higher recommendation than that. [cue mockery from Niko about how I'm always recommending this lens] ;-)

NSX, I see ghosting around blown highlights, too, and I think it is the lack of a coating. LR seems to handle it in most situations, though. Here's an example from a wedding last weekend. [They had just broken the (plastic-handled) knife because they were trying to cut through a plate on top of the bottom layer. Funny stuff—better luck with your next wedding, guys.]

Hey guys, a slightly related question- have you guys used this lens at night with bright lights?

I've used two copies and the lights ghosted. Is it because this lens is uncoated?

Wonder if this has happened to you guys before?

Tunnel vision. Up close and stopped down, not as much. But not really usable except as an intentional effect.

at 1.8 on a FX, really sick vignetting effect. . .I like it, but use it solely on my DX.

Thom Hogan has just reviewed the Nikon 35F1.8 and certainly recommended it

Anyway I don't have it yet, but was wondering if any of you have used it on a FX body, for the effect it would give to the picture
