well considering the guy with the sb-800 had everything including the box and and instructions, and i picked it up from his business and he was an older guy mid-50s. so no i doubt anything was stolen goods. recently i got a d60 with box and everything for $275...if you got a blackberry i suggest getting viigo and having a rss feed for craigslist search "nikon". thats how i find all my stuff.

i dont mean to one-up you but, i scored a barely used sb-800 a year ago for $170. i bought it from a guy who originally listed it as part of a package with a d80. i called him and asked if i could buy the flash seperately. he replied that someone already called to buy the flash and offered $120 and he agreed to it and was gonna keep his word with the guy. it took a few calls back for me to convince him to sell it to me for $170 instead...as long as i came right then and picked it up. i had to leave work at lunch and drive to the ghetto part of LA (45 min away from me) and meet him up at his business. im so lucky i found it this cheap. he barely used it for a few product photos.

another great deal i found was a F3 HP with 50mm lens and a the motor drive for $200. and one deal im sad to say i missed out on was a guy posted a 50mm 1.2 ais for $350...i missed out.

I've never considered buying a second hand lens. I'm too scared. I've def heard of people having good experiences though on the second hand market.

No reason to feel bad. He came up with a price of 250, so he must have done some research. I remember before I got into photography I assumed speed lights were about 50 bucks cuz, "theyre just flashes...cant be that fancy". I know better now but hey, he set a price, you gave him the money, everyone is happy. I sure as hell didnt feel bad when I got my 80-200 for 400 bucks. I was very cautious, but its been a great lens...so a great deal!

Found a sweet deal on an SB-800 on Craigslist. Picked it up for only 250 bucks! I couldn't believe it. The guy probably could have gotten a lot more for it on ebay, but he had no idea since the equipment he was selling was his mothers who died recently. I felt bad at first, but then when I got home and started playing with it, I was soooooo happy. Does that make me a bad person? Am i going straight to hell?

Anyways...there are some great deals out there on craigslist. Look out for that serial killer though if you live close to boston! Think they caught him though.
