JA - you've got a D3s or is this on the D300s?

I'm not hating on the video function anymore, after I played around with the D5000 over Xmas, I was sold - it's fun, enables small clips, and I could see it being nicely integrated into client packages as a small add on.

Now if/when they actually get the AF LIVE like in the D3s, as opposed to the annoying MF which got old after awhile for me, I'll jump on board. . .only FF though, some of those evening video shots I've seen with the D3s are SICK!

@Patrick - I agree, I wouldn't date, I would just *ahem* appreciate. . .if you EVER need a 5th shoot or a lighting assistant, or a drool bucket collector, I'll fly to CA from NYC in a moments notice!

I think you've got a great idea with the fstoppers site, Patrick. I'll be watching to see what people post there.

It's only a matter of time until the D700 gets an update and I'll be in line to get one, too. I think it's strange how long it has already taken Nikon.

About audio, I don't know what your current solution is, but I bought a Zoom H4n recorder and a $10 hotshoe to 1/4"-20 (tripod screw) adaptor, since it has a tripod mount on the bottom of it. The built-in mics have surprisingly beautiful sound and it has two inputs that will take either XLR mics or 1/4" TRS. You can record all four tracks (2 built-in, 2 inputs) at 24kHz/96bits. It takes SD cards up to 32GB so I've never run into space issues (I use an 8GB card). One thing it does not do well is handle line level inputs, but that's not what I was looking for so it doesn't bother me.

Yeah I've thought about the Zoom external recorder but it's one more thing to sync when the audio I'm getting isn't THAT bad (people are complaining about the music much more than the audio anyways so whatever).

New videos are coming this week that show how we have our cameras setup for video and we will leave the floor open for suggestions. Line level just means not powered correct? I am using wireless sennheiser mics that are battery powered but I assume those are LINE correct?

I'm a NR addict I'll admit so I was thrilled to see our blog on the front page. However, as crazy busy as our site has gotten over the 3 days it's been live I do not think I can really afford to make NR forums a home. I'll pop in every now and then though...

Now the only thing left is a camera upgrade. Is there a reason Nikon only has one camera now that does not take video and it happens to be their most popular FX camera? What is up with that....well things are about to change I'm sure. My friends said quality videos couldn't be done with Nikon and I proved them wrong with Fstoppers. Now I want to prove to them that they can be done BETTER with Nikon :)

I know a lot of you guys on here could care less about HD video for your own sake which is cool but I do not understand how you cannot pull for Nikon to at least have the best product in every single category when comparing it to another competitor. Hey I don't bracket but it does my soul good knowing Nikon runs circles around Canon in that department.

Really I just want to start being able to use my full frame fisheye in these fstoppers videos....that would be a nice little extra bling for the videos. Oh and REAL audio inputs; goodness my iphone records better audio than my D300s cameras.

Hey guys, thanks for checking out the website. We have gotten such a great response but the biggest thing I'm finding out is people think this site is about Lee and I. Nothing could be further from the truth. We want YOUR videos to feature so start shooting your photoshoots and make sure you 1) talk about what you are doing (we did a poor job in vegas because of time) and 2) show the final images. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with as the content grows. I just filmed a really unique video today that is completely different than anything on the site now (hint, think JFK but smaller)
