What kind of sales guy are you Pete?! You should be convincing yourself just like you convince your customers they need to buy a new D300S and the 70-200 VRII :^)

I plan on upgrading to this lens from my orginal vrI. I went to my local camera store and tested it out. it didnt seeem much different with vignetting indoors. But it was much sharper at 2.8. One thing i didnt like.... The new VRII is much thicker at the base compared to the orignal. It felt really akward.

I bet the people who sold or returned their copies of the 70-200 VRII because of the short zoom and flaking "problems" feel real stupid now.

I shoot a 80-200mm f/2.8 with a D90 and have no reason to change(the lens of course)...

I'm on an original 70-200 with a d90, when I upgrade to FF, am I going to be THAT disappointed? Or only if I shoot brick walls?

our Nikon 70-200 2.8VRII

This is their Conclusion: (copied from DpReview)

"Overall, though, it's impossible to conclude anything other than that the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8 G VR II is the most accomplished lens of its type that we've tested so far, and a perfect companion to Nikon's top-end bodies such as the D3S and D3X. DX shooters may not have so much reason to upgrade from the previous model, but for FX users the improvements are clear. How long it will retain this crown is open to question, with Canon and Sigma also recently releasing new image-stabilized 70-200mm F2.8 lenses, but just for now this is as good as it gets."

I hope they will test more of the new Nikon Lenses just released
