OK back to Nikon: I would like to see something like a 12mm FX prime, if Sigma can make a 12-24mm FF lens, then some should be able to make 12mm FF prime

That's no fisheye NSX... its just like the 14-24 zoom just wider. There were only 300 of them ever made. Apparently the aperture ring is really hard to read when its attached to your camera.

No need for such wide angle lenses when software can stitch things up nicely nowadays. Whereas before the only way to get those shots was with big ass lenses like the above.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to go much wider... everything starts getting really weird on the wide end of my 11mm Tokina DX lens. 13mm on FX? forget about it.

Actually all old Nikon fisheye (from 6 to 10 I think) require mirror lockup but not this 220° Nikon's Fisheye-Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 ;)

I think the 8mm??? Fisheye required you to lockup the mirror.

There were a bunch of wide angle lenses that Nikon made in the past that required the mirror to be locked up first.

I don't know what they were, but if you tried to mount them, you'd smash the mirror. I'm pretty sure aside from the film cameras, the digital SLRs can't handle this sort of wide angle lens.

Cosina makes a 12mm for rangefinder cameras. The lens penetrates too deeply into the camera to be used on any camera with a mirror.

Nikkor 13mm is a dream lens, but also with a dream price, expect paying about $15,000 for one in good shape...

There was a 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor in manual focus days . . . Can be found on ebay occasionally.

I know Sigma has the not all that sharp 12-24 FF lens, but otherwise any other great FF lenses are no wider than 14mm. I would love to see a decent quality 12mm FX lens, I don't think it can done wider without moving into the fisheye Lens territory

Now with the new Sigma APS-C lens with app 12mm effective angle, maybe Sigma should redo their old FF 12-24 lens

Anyway should Nikon make a 12mm Lens to complement their 14-24 FX lens
