Willis said:
No way would carry around expensive photo gear in anything but the most public places in central park.

I was there a couple years ago and got headed down the wrong trail, things got real shady real quick. On the up side, all we had to do was turn around and then all of the sudden we find a free show put on by the NY philharmonic orchestra! Complete with fireworks (it was a rain delayed 4th of July celebration)... man I love that city.

But still, I'd never tote around a 600mm f4 or anything. Heck I'd even mug you if I saw you there with one.

because mugging someone who has a 2 and a half foot long tube of solid metal and glass is a good idea. I've used my F4 and 85/1.4 with a metal hood as a bludgeoning item before, camera gear is quite good for self defense.

What the hell was a deer doing with a Nikon? It doesn't even have a finger to push the shutter.

There's supposed to be a whole bunch of falcons around Central Park, but I don't go into Manhattan enough and have lenses crazy enough to shoot them.

I saw a red tailed hawk hunt pigeons before, that was a heck of a lot of fun. This all happened during class too. Everyone's attention was transfixed on the hunt. The hawk chased the pigeon, and the stupid pigeon rammed into our classroom's window, on the ground floor. The hawk was going to go for the kill until some stupid hippie scooped up the pigeon. I wanted to see blood, not learn stupid environmental crap for freshman seminar.

Still lots of fun.

i was in Boston at the top of the Prudential building looking out watching the peregrine falcons chasing each other outside. it was pretty cool being so high up and looking straight out at them. there seem to be a lot of predatory birds near me. I should go take some pictures of them huh...

Moose Peterson eat your heart out!

:D

That's pretty cool.

I think I saw a falcon or a red tailed hawk perched on top of the Chemistry Department today. That was pretty cool.

It was 7 stories up, I didn't get a good look.

It'd be wonderful if I had a 300mm 2.8, I'd be glad to check it out for you guys, preferably with a D3s too.

LOL so true Willis. As much as I like firearms and wildlife I don't like using them against each other! The only hunting I enjoy doing out in the brush is when I'm armed with my cameras.

I suppose we'd know a lot more about it if he'd shot it :)

Just Kidding. I've always wondered why there aren't more hunters that are into wildlife photography. It's almost the same thing except for the clean-up. And besides, if you think the London Police can violate your rights, try having a run in with a Texas Game Warden.
