Yup, could do that. What I normally do is pick a subject I want to shoot and wait for the bird to do something. I shot hummingbirds at the sanctuary last spring and waited three hours to get the shots I wanted, patients so so important with wildlife.

Awesome. Nice work on the patience. I know how hard it can be to just simply wait. And then wait some more. And often end up walking away without the shot I wanted.

I was actually back at Rifle this past weekend with my gf before we visited the rents for dinner. Ill send you a message next time Im out that way and maybe we can meet up and take some shots. And maybe you can show me where the best spots are since you spend a lot of time there.

Yup, I shoot there at least three times a month. I waited 45 minutes to get shots of the Heron in flight. Took the shot below later in the day.

And nice catch with the heron, PB PM. Was that at Rifle?

Thanks, adamz.

Its actually just a case of laziness. There was another branch that ran across the bottom of the original that i cropped out upon request from a friend mine who saw the shot on my flickr page. I just didn't bother adjusting it after I reposted the shot without the branch.

myuziq - that's a nice catch

aprille - missed You in this forum, nice but sad picture

SquamishPhoto - a really nice one, great timing, You could try to experiment with different crop modes, I would probably go for a little bit tider crop, to get a 2/3 composition, and get rid of part of the branch on the left
