There is a pancake 50mm F1.8 AI, although the Series E lens was smaller. I sometimes use an E Series 50mm F1.8 on my D300, its almost as good as the 50mm F1.8D, but it is weak in terms contrast, at least on a digital body.

I also want Nikon to come out with some affordable, fast, telephoto primes.

PB PM, I assume you are talking about the 50mm 1.8 Series-E. I don't even know if that was called a pancake lens, at least by Nikon, but man was it tiny. I had one on my D40, pretty nice except for the D40's TEEEEENY viewfinder made focusing rough, even with the focus confirmation dot.

I'd really like to see a Nikon mirrorless camera that comes with an adapter, so it could accept F mount lenses. I'd love it if it had a built in viewfinder, rather than the external ones we've seen up to this point. It would be great if the kit lens was a pancake 35mm F1.8, that would be sweet, it would be like buying a FM back in the early 80s with the pancake 50mm 1.8 AI.

These are all things that a D700 body with a D3S sensor can provide. Along with some updated super-wide primes.

I don't roll my own because I don't shoot enough 135 to warrant it. I'm more of a 120 person these days, and I don't want to deal with the hassle of reusable cassettes. If I primarily shot 35 in high volumes (more than 15/20 rolls a week) I would use a bulk loader, but I don't care enough. More film runs through my Pentax 67 and Bronica systems at the moment, in conjunction with my twin lens cameras...

that aside, a 35-85 or 28-85 ƒ/2 or something like that would cover all the angles I use on a regular basis, and would work awesome for when I'm using d***tal.

I would like to have a camera body similar to the D300 or D90 that works well with my old AI lenses. In particular, I would want
1. Metering to work with the old lenses
2. Live view mode
3. Articulating screen
4. Depth of field preview button
5. Ability to enter the lens info into the camera so it appears in the EXIF data

Maybe this is the updated D90, or that manual digital camera that replaces my FE2.

This is my first post. I have been watching this site anxiously hoping Nikon will market a camera I would buy. I'm just an old amateur that likes to take pictures. All of the above except #5 are screenout factors. I really could get by without #1, but I should not have to.

Well, a nice new Mayma 250mm for my RB67 would be nice...

Oh, nikon... well I wouldn't mind that 16-35 f/4, but other than that, I'm perfectly happy with my SB-600. It does everything that I need. The only other thing would be a cheap full-frame.

I'm still waiting for a reasonable zoom telephoto. Something comparable to the Canon 100-400. The current 80-400 doesn't cut it, so how about a 100-500/4-5.6 VRxxx. Or a VR 300/4 with close focusing capability.

If it's a new body, then a D300s or D90 with more MPs and better ISO.

an SB-700 would be a good announcement. SB-900 is just too big for people without a camera of the semi-pro and pro level. Maybe a shorter lens of the old 80-400mm, something like 100-300mm with a fast aperture would be a good addition as well.

Ishan... Just put a giant lens on the front and then it will all balance out. I took a picture of my D40 with my 70-200 f2.8 and the SB-900 on it... hilarious. You can barely tell there is a camera there.

Warprints - I'm right there with you on the SB-700. If Nikon releases this, I'll probably buy two. The only reason the 900 is so big is because the flash head head has some built in light shaping. I never mess with any of that. If I want to restrict light, I use snoots & grids. If I need to throw light across the room, well, then what the heck am i using a strobe for in the first place LOL.

I feel like I'm stuttering, but ... I'd like the SB700 and I'm perfectly happy with my D300. However, I'm soooo tired of waiting for the SB700 (I really WANT the SB900 UI but don't need the size) that I've pretty much convinced myself that I can live with the size and heft of the SB900 (in addition to my SB800). As soon as I buy it, the 700 will be announced.

With the feb 3rd press conference coming up. What do you expect or want them to release? D900? sb-700? new zooms and primes for fx? if not released by PMA what would you want to have in your bag by 2011?

As for me, the main lenses that would interest me would be the 24mm and 85mm 1.4 primes. Id be very disappointed in nikon if they wouldn't release these lenses. due to the fact ones EPA banned and the other is 15+ years old technology though is a fantastic lens
