TJ the D70 is notorious for it's CF card problems. It's usually a bad or lose connection within the camera that can be taken care of by Nikon but unless your camera is totally dead it will cost $$$ to get it fixed. Here's the service advisory that explains the problem that Nikon will fix for free.
http://www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Service-Advisories/D70-Service-Advisory.page

I am heavily invested in CF cards but recently I have started to prefer SD cards for the same reasons you listed. I wouldn't mind if CF cards start to fade away. We will see what happens when those 1 and 2 TB SD cards start to come down in price :^)

That's incredible! It's astounding! It's really good for people who use the D-Movie function. Can someone clarify for me: what is the advantage to having CF cards? In my mind, they're too large to carry around numerously and their ports are too complicated; the little prongs always get smashed and the cards always seem to fail.

My brother has a D70. He formats his CF card all the time, but he is frequently plagued by an error that prevents him from taking photos. Of course, it's not a fancy expensive one, but would the price and brand of the card really make a difference? I have a D40 with SD and I've never had a problem.

pitty, that even the new dslr's can't fully use UDMA. Sandisk Extreme Pro is faster than this what d300s can offer already.

I highly doubt CF cards will ever go away. Since it is physically larger, they can always be designed hold more data, and since they have more pin outs, they'll hold a speed advantage as well. After using both, I prefer CF.

I can see how some people would want cards that large, such as D3X users, who shoot uncompressed 14bit RAW files.

ive said it before and i guess i just dont understand why you'd want CF cards that are that large. id rather carry a few around and not risk failure or breakage of a single, universal card.

Just when CF cards were starting to look obsolete against SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards, a new 400X 128gb CF card is announced!
